Filing with Court

Yes, a copy of the Verified Statement should be filed with the court/tribunal.
Filing procedures vary from one court to another. Contact the office of the clerk of the court for information about filing procedures or consult local counsel.
New Cases

A Verified Statement must be filed for each Illinois case in which an out-of-state attorney appears. The process is the same for each case. Out-of-state attorneys should use the same ARDC number for each Statement. A letter (or letters) of good standing must be submitted with each Verified Statement even if already submitted with a previous Statement.
Yes. If a case goes before a different tribunal, it is considered a separate case. Another Verified Statement must be filed.
Fees

There is an annual registration fee of $121. This is only paid once each calendar year. Additionally, there is a per proceeding fee of $250. This is assessed for each Verified Statement submitted.

A fee waiver can be granted if an out-of-state attorney is:

  • appointed by a court to represent an indigent defendant in a criminal or civil case;
  • employed by or associated with a nonprofit legal service organization in a civil case involving a client of such a program; or
  • employed by the United States Department of Justice and representing the United States.

If one of the above exceptions applies to you, please send an email to Rule707@iardc.org with a brief explanation of the basis for the applicable exception.Annual Registration

Annual Registration

Out-of State attorneys must register annually and pay the annual registration fee each calendar year in which they remain involved in at least one Illinois matter. If we do not receive notice that involvement has concluded, we assume that the involvement is ongoing and bill the annual fee accordingly.
The ARDC mails registration notices in mid- to late-January. Registration should be completed within 30 days of your receipt of the notice.
Case Concluded

Please notify our office that your involvement has concluded by sending an email to Rule707@iardc.org. Please include your name, your assigned ARDC number, the case name(s) and docket number(s) for the matter(s) in which your involvement has been concluded, and the approximate date on which your involvement concluded. We will then update our records.
